While in high school, he got arrested for armed robbery after robbing three shops in Kansas City, Missouri, and then stealing a car at gunpoint with his friends.

Chuck Berry was convicted and sent to the Intermediate Reformatory for Young Men at Algoa, near Jefferson City, Missouri, and was later released. He was also convicted and imprisoned for transporting an underage girl from one country to another for immoral purposes. He got sentenced to five years in prison after a two-week trial which he appealed.

Chuck Berry was unable to secure a second appeal against his second conviction which sentenced him to three years in prison, for which he served a year and a half between 1961 and 1963. He spent three months in California prison in 1979 after being convicted of income tax evasion.

She Lost Her Father

Aloha Berry’s father Chuck Berry died on March 18, 2017, at the age of 90. He was found unresponsive at his home near Wentzville, Missouri, and was pronounced dead by his personal physician. His funeral was held on April 9, 2017, at The Pageant, in Berry’s hometown of St. Louis. He is interred in a mausoleum at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery in St. Louis.
